Originally opened in the 1980s, the venue has undergone several renovations to meet modern standards and international competition requirements.

Description

The arena features a 44 × 24 m solid oak floor suitable for basketball, volleyball, handball, gymnastics, judo, weightlifting, and fencing. Originally accommodating 2,500 spectators, the venue was expanded in 2016, and again in 2022 and 2023. The current capacity is approximately 5,000 seats, with new wooden seating installed during the latest renovations.

Architectural Features

Gaston-Médecin Hall is built directly into the lower levels of the Stade Louis II complex. Despite its relatively compact design, it integrates high-quality finishes, flexible lighting, modern locker rooms, and event infrastructure compatible with EuroLeague and national competition standards.

Who is Gaston Médecin?

Gaston Médecin was a Monegasque athlete who competed in athletics and represented Monaco in the 1924 Olympic Games. The hall is named in his honour as a tribute to his contributions to sport in the principality.
