Construction began in 2006, and the ground was officially ready by 2012. It initially hosted domestic women’s and Ranji Trophy matches before making its international debut on October 10, 2017, with a T20I between India and Australia. This marked its entry as India’s 49th international cricket venue. The stadium has since reached major milestones, including hosting ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup warm-up matches and serving as the second home for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. In late 2025, it further solidified its status by hosting its first-ever Men’s Test match between India and South Africa.
