About this place

History

PreZero Arena, originally called Rhein‑Neckar‑Arena and later Wirsol Rhein‑Neckar‑Arena, opened on January 24, 2009. Built between 2007–2009 to replace Hoffenheim’s smaller Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion, it is owned and operated by TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. In 2019 it was renamed PreZero Arena under a sponsorship agreement valid through 2025. Construction cost around €60 million.

Description

The stadium holds approximately 30,150 spectators (23,400 seats and 6,750 standing), reduced to about 25,600 for international matches. It features a natural grass pitch (105 × 68 m), floodlights, and two 58 m² LED screens. The four covered single-tier stands enclose the pitch with no athletics track.

Architectural Features

Designed by Eheim Moebel, the arena combines functional modern stands with hospitality content including 40 boxes and 1,364 business seats in the West Stand. A solar roof system powers 1,046 kWp (enough for 270 households), supported by 460 parking solar panels. The main West Stand also features media facilities and VIP areas.

What is “PreZero”?

PreZero is a German environmental services company, part of the Schwarz Group. The naming rights deal began in January 2019 and runs through 2025, aligning with Hoffenheim’s sustainability efforts—like the stadium’s solar roof and zero-waste program.

Records

The stadium’s maximum attendance is 30,150. It hosted 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup matches, UEFA U-19 finals in 2016, the 2017 DEL Winter Game, and hosted Stuttgart Surge in the ELF 2024. Home ground of Hoffenheim since 2009 and Germany national team occasional matches.
