Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena opened on November 8, 2004, on the site of the former Wedaustadion and was originally known as MSV-Arena. It was renamed in 2010 under a naming rights deal with travel company Schauinsland-Reisen, later extended to 2028. Built at a cost of approximately €43 million, it is owned and operated by MSV Duisburg Stadionprojekt GmbH & Co. KG.
