AFAS Stadion Achter de Kazerne is the historic home of KV Mechelen, inaugurated in 1911 on a former brewery site behind a military barracks—hence its nickname “Achter de Kazerne.” The stadium changed names over the years (Scarletstadion 2003–06, Veoliastadion 2006–09, Argosstadion 2009–15) before becoming AFAS Stadion in 2015.
Located at Kleine Nieuwedijkstraat 53, Mechelen (Belgium), the stadium holds 16 672 spectators on natural grass.
The 2015‑2016 rebuild introduced double-tiered stands with corporate boxes and day-care space for the local community.
AFAS Software is a Dutch enterprise software firm that acquired stadium naming rights in May 2015. Although the formal name is AFAS Stadion, fans still commonly refer to it as “Achter de Kazerne”.
While no single attendance record is documented, the stadium has returned to near its early‑20th-century atmosphere with a capacity solidified at 16 672 after renovation.
