History

AFAS Stadion Achter de Kazerne is the historic home of KV Mechelen, inaugurated in 1911 on a former brewery site behind a military barracks—hence its nickname “Achter de Kazerne.” The stadium changed names over the years (Scarletstadion 2003–06, Veoliastadion 2006–09, Argosstadion 2009–15) before becoming AFAS Stadion in 2015.

Where to Sit

The stadium comprises four stands:

  • North Stand: Contains standing areas and a portion for away fans (sections Z1–Z2).
  • East Stand: Seating for families, students, and supporter groups.
  • South Stand: Fan café (“Grand Kavee”), mixed seating and a 3 500-capacity standing terrace.
  • West (Main) Stand: Five-level structure with press, skyboxes, fanshop, fitness center, and kindergarten underneath.

Can I visit outside matchdays?
