The “Bauer” stadium, called the Saint-Ouen stadium from 1911 and officially the Paris stadium since 1922, is a soccer stadium located in the town of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine (Seine-Saint-Denis) and inaugurated in 1909. The Ile-de-France club Red Star is the resident since its inauguration. It became the municipal stadium of the town of Auvergne in 19301, and is now commonly called the “Bauer stadium”. It is located near the famous flea market in the Paris suburbs.
Who’s Bauer?
Dr. Jean-Claude Bauer (1910-1942) is a communist doctor and local resistance fighter of the same name, who was arrested by the French police and then shot, and who gave his name to the former rue de la Chapelle bordering the stadium
